School Fuel Endorses Measure A

There is a special election on June 2nd with only one issue. This is a parcel tax to benefit the Novato Unified School District. School Fuel has endorsed the measure, and we encourage you to support it, too. To find out more, visit www.aplusforkids.net, or read the Novato Advance endorsement. Our whole community will benefit.

Please make sure you vote on this measure on June 2nd! It must pass by a two-thirds majority, so every vote is critical.

"Novato Grows Talent" Telethon - Friday, June 5th

School Fuel is trying something new to give the whole community an opportunity to see just what it is that our students are learning in school these days.  All of Novato will want to tune in to the Novato Public Access television station NPAT, Channel 30 for Comcast subscribers, from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday, June 5th, to see an extravaganza of ability, energy, and talent. Throughout the performance, Novato students will showcase their amazing abilities and the superb instruction that they are receiving from their teachers. Students from every grade level, K-12, and every school will perform.  You will also want to make sure you tune in to see whether some notable Novato adults really are smarter than Novato public school fifth graders!

There are a limited number of tickets available for $5 each for individuals who would like to view the taping live at the NUSD headquarters.  You may also consider making a donation to help maintain the music program. School Fuel has contributed between $45,000 - $62,000 annually over the past five years toward the salaries of the elementary music teachers. Similarly, School Fuel has contributed $56,000 - $95,500 to support middle and high school sections in the arts.   Your help is needed to prevent cuts to these valuable programs.  For as little as $10 per month, you can become a Scholar Club School Fuel member to help support keeping the music alive in our elementary schools.

For reservations, contact Darcy Marengo (using the form linked here) by June 1, 2009. All of the money raised from the telethon will be used to maintain the academic and enrichment programs in our Novato public schools next year.
